개념미술가 미샤 쿠발은 1977년부터 공공예술 및 기관 영역에서 활동해왔다. 그는 빛을 매개체로 사용하여 건축 공간뿐만 아니라 사회적, 정치적 담론을 탐구하며, 사회 문화적 구조에서부터 건축적 개입에 이르기까지 다양한 분야를 아우르는 작업을 한다. 정치적 성향을 가진 참여형 프로젝트들에서는 관객, 작가, 작품 및 공공 공간 사이에 커뮤니케이션을 위한 플랫폼을 제공함으로써, 공공 공간과 사적 공간을 구분할 수 없는 하나의 전체로 통합시킨다. 2007년부터 쾰른 미디어아트 아카데미에서 공공예술 교수로 재직했으며, 2006~2008년 칼스루에 디자인 미술 대학(Hochschule für Gestaltung)에서 미디어아트 교수로 재직했다. 2015년부터 뒤셀도르프에 있는 과학 및 예술을 위한 노르트라인베스트팔렌아카데미 (North-Rhine-Westphalian Academy) 멤버로 활동하고 있고, 2016년에는 German Light Award를 수상한 바 있다.

Mischa Kuball, conceptual artist, has been working in the public and institutional sphere since 1977. He uses light as a medium to explore architectural spaces as well as social and political discourses and reflects on a whole variety of aspects from sociocultural structures to architectural interventions as well as emphasizing or reinterpreting their monumental nature and context in architectural history. Public and private space merge into an indistinguishable whole in politically motivated participation projects, providing a platform for communication between the audience, the artist, the work itself and public space. Since 2007 Mischa Kuball has been a Professor for public art at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne, and 2006-2008 professor for media art at Hochschule für Gestaltung/ZKM, Karlsruhe. Since 2015 he has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts, Duesseldorf. In 2016 he was honoured with the German Light Award.
