필립 지글러는 미술사학자이자 큐레이터, 독일 ZKM의 수석큐레이터이다. 2012년부터 ZKM에서 많은 전시들을 기획·공동기획해왔으며 대표적인 전시로는 respektive Peter Weibel(2019), Edge of Now(2019), Dieter Jung. Between and Beyond(2019), Digital Imaginaries – Africas in Production(2018), Hybrid Layers(2017), Exo-Evolution(2015), Armin Linke. The Appearance of That Which Cannot Be Seen(2015), global aCtIVISm(2013), Otto Piene. Energiefelder(2013) 등이 있다. 2013년에는 독일 국제교류처(IFA)의 순회전 Future Perfect, Contemporary Art from Germany를 공동주최하여 폴란드, 러시아, 리투아니아, 브라질, 멕시코, 콜롬비아, 나미비아, 세네갈 등지에서 개최했다. ZKM의 큐레이터로 합류하기 전 그는 다양한 갤러리와 기관, 예술 공간에서 큐레이터로 활동했으며, 2007년부터 2012년까지는 독일의 슈투트가르트에서 현대 미술을 다루는 독립 프로젝트 공간을 운영했다. 현재 2020년과 2021년까지 그는 Seasons of Media Arts; Bio-Media; Walter Giers. Electronic Art 등의 전시와 한국의 미디어 아티스트 ‘김순기 회고전’을 기획, 준비하고 있다. 그의 경력들을 바탕으로 다양한 잡지에 현대 미술에 관한 기사와 에세이를 집필하고, 여러 출판물의 편집자로 일했다. 그는 독일 슈투트가르트와 이탈리아 밀라노에서 미술사를 공부했다.

Philipp Ziegler is an art historian, curator and Head of Curatorial Department at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Germany. Since 2012 he curated and co-curated several exhibitions at ZKM, including: “respektive Peter Weibel” (2019) “Edge of Now” (2019), “Dieter Jung. Between and Beyond” (2019), “Digital Imaginaries – Africas in Production” (2018), “Hybrid Layers” (2017), “Exo-Evolution” (2015), “Armin Linke. The Appearance of That Which Cannot Be Seen” (2015), “global aCtIVISm” (2013), and “Otto Piene. Energiefelder” (2013). In 2013 he co-curated the ifa-touring exhibition “Future Perfect. Contemporary Art from Germany" which has since been shown in Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Namibia, Senegal and other countries. Before joining ZKM as a curator, he curated in various galleries, institutions and art spaces. From 2007 to 2012 he run an independent project space for contemporary art in Stuttgart, Germany. For 2020 and 2021 he is currently working on the exhibitions "Seasons of Media Arts", “Bio-Media”, “Walter Giers. Electronic Art”, and on an retrospective exhibiton on the Korean medai artist Soungui Kim. Throughout his career, he has written in various magazines articles and essays on contemporary art and he was the editor of several publications. Philipp Ziegler studied art history in Stuttgart, Germany and Milan, Italy.
