현재 동시대 작가들의 작업에 관한 글쓰기와 독립 큐레이터로 활동하고 있으며, 온라인 미술구독플랫폼 BGA(Background Artworks)의 공동 운영자이기도 하다. 함께 활동하고 있는 동세대 작가 개인의 작업세계에 주목하여 협업하는 것에 보람을 느끼고, 이를 물리적인 전시의 형태 혹은 글, 다양한 방식의 컨텐츠로 구현하고자 한다. 주로 문학을 참조하여 전시 주제를 풀어나가는 것에 관심을 두어 작가의 작품과 엮이면서 발생하는 예상치 못한 포개어지는 지점들을 좋아한다. 나아가, 새롭게 읽혀질 수 있는 오늘의 회화, 오늘의 조각 등 우리가 살고 있는 동세대가 습득하고 풀어내는 회화와 조각은 무엇인지 등 장르에 대한 지속적인 형식적 접근을 통해 다양한 갈래로 전시를 구현하고 싶다. 전시 《The Whistler》(갤러리ERD, 2020), 국동완 개인전 《나는 셋 아니 넷 아니 다섯》(플레이스막2, 2020), d/p 기획지원프로그램 06 조혜진 작가의 개인전 《옆에서 본 모양: 참조의 기술》(d/p, 2019), 《사물들: 조각적 시도》(두산 갤러리, 2017), 이희준 개인전 《Interior nor Exterior: Prototype》(기고자, 2016)을 기획했으며, 서울시립미술관 전시 코디네이터, 국립아시아문화전당 《공작인: 현대 조각과 공예 사이(Homo Faber: Craft in Contemporary Sculpture)》(ACC, 2019) 어시스턴트 큐레이터로 활동하고 다수의 글을 기고해 왔다.

Sungah Serena Choo is an independent curator, writer, and a co-founder of online art subscription platform, BGA (Background Artworks). She pays attention to the world of the contemporary artists living in the same era by collaborating with them. She feels productive to implement it in the form of an exhibition, writing, or content in various ways. Her main interest is to create exhibitions by referring to literature and she enjoys the unexpected overlapping points that occur when intertwined with the artist's work. She wants to implement exhibitions in various branches through a continuous formal approach, such as what paintings and sculptures are known today that can be reinterpreted. Choo's works include The Whistler (2020), Dongwan Kook's solo exhibition (2020), Hyejin Cho's solo exhibition Shape, From the Side: Reading Documents (2019), Things: Sculptural Practice (2017), and Hee Joon Lee's solo exhibition Interior nor Exterior: Prototype (2016). She served as an exhibition coordinator in Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) and assistant curator for Homo Faber: Craft in Contemporary Sculpture (2019) in Asia Culture Center (ACC).
