임종은은 아시아 현대미술에서의 전통에 대한 문제 등에 관심을 가지고 세계화 속에서 아시아 예술을 재정의하는 데 관심이 많은 독립 큐레이터다. 그녀의 큐레이터 작업은 현대미술에서 아시아 전통의 재해석을 연구하고 근대성과 한국 문화에 대한 서구의 영향력에 초점을 맞추는 것인데, 이는 포스트모던 시대의 후기 식민주의, 로컬리티 등을 둘러싼 이슈로 확대된다. 그녀는 2019년 제1회 상하이국제종이비엔날레에서 한국관 예술감독을 역임했다. 그녀는 화이트 블록 아트센터와 대전 미술관 같은 다양한 미술 기관들과 일하기 전에 큐레이터로 대안공간과 공공 프로젝트 등의 다양한 경험이 있다. 그녀는 현재 대학교에서 미술사와 이론을 가르치고, 아시아 현대미술에 대한 네트워크와 작가연구 등의 경험을 가지고 학술적인 연구와 전시 관련 업무를 지속하고 있으며, 올해 열리는 Korean Pavilion for Biennale Jogja_Art Exhibit 2021 of KONNECT ASEAN에 공동 큐레이터로 역할을 수행하고 있다.

Jongeun Lim is an independent curator who is interested in traditional values and ideology represented in Asian contemporary art, and in redefining Asian art within the global art context. She was the director of Korean Pavilion at the 1st Shanghai International Paper Biennale in 2019. She has various experience curatorship like alternative art spaces and public projects before working with various art institutions such as White Block Art Center and Daejeon Museum of Art. Her curatorial work begins by studying the reinterpretation of Asian traditions in contemporary art and focusing on Western influence over Korean culture, which extends to the issues around orientalism, post colonialism, and locality in post-modern era. She currently Universities in Seoul teaching art history and theory, as a co-curator working for Korean Pavilion for Biennale Jogja_Art Exhibit 2021 of KONNECT ASEAN.
