염지혜는 우리가 지금 마주하고 있는 일련의 상황들을 현재의 단독적인 사건으로 인식하기보다 그 이면에 작동하는 힘을 찾고자 한다. 즉, 현재 주변에서 일어나는 일들의 표면만 바라보는 것이 아니라 그 일들을 발생시킨 보이지 않는 힘을 상상하는 것이다. 그리고 그 보이지 않는 힘을 상상하기 위해 과학, 역사, 철학, 종교, 구전, 믿음 등 다양한 학문을 상상과 연구의 도구로 삼으며, 더불어 경험적으로 체득하고 체감하는 감각을 중시한다. 과거와 현재, 오늘과 미래, 경험과 기억, 이미지와 꿈, 전설과 서사 등이 서로 혼합되어 경계가 흐려지는 지점에서 발생하는 새로운 연결고리의 탐색을 통해, 세계를 바라보는 대안적 관점과 새로운 말하기 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 《[~]》(송은아트스페이스, 2021), 《모든 관점 볼텍스》(대구미술관, 2018) 등 5회의 개인전을 가졌고, 《재난과 치유》(국립현대미술관, 2021), 《이토록 아름다운》(부산시립미술관,2021), 《침묵의 미래: 하나의 언어가 사라진 순간》(백남준아트센터, 2020), 《두 번의 똑같은 밤은 없다》(북서울시립미술관, 2019) 등 다수의 기획전에 참여했다.

Rather than recognizing the series of situations we are facing as a single current event, Jihye Yeom seeks to find the power behind it. In other words, it is not just looking at the surface of what is happening around us, but imagining the invisible force that caused them. To imagine the invisible power, she uses a variety of disciplines, such as science, history, philosophy, religion, oral tradition, and belief, and emphasizes the senses experienced. She would like to suggest a way to speak through the exploration of new connections that take place at the point where the boundaries between the past and the present, today and future, experiences and memories, images and dreams, legends and narratives are mixed and blurred, an alternative perspective on the world and new perspectives on the world. She had 5 solo exhibitions including [~](SongEun Art Space, 2021), Total Perspective Vortex(Daegu Museum of Art, 2018) and other selected grouped exhibitions, Catastrophe and Recovery(MMCA Korea, 2021), The Nature of Art(Busan Museum of Art, 2021), The Future of Silence: When your tongue vanishes (Nam June Paik Art Center, 2020), and Nothing Twice (Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, 2019).
